Tanglewood HSA

If you would like to be part of any of these events please contact the committee chairperson. If you have an idea for a new event please let us know!

Popcorn Committee (all year)

• Volunteers come to the school one day every other month to make popcorn for the students.
• This committee runs throughout the year.
• Must be available during the school day.

Hospitality Committee (all year)

• Volunteers are called upon a few times a year to make and/or buy snacks for various events.
• This committee runs throughout the year.

Fall Fundraiser (September)

Our fall fundraising event. Catalog/Online shopping that is sent home with the kids for them to sell items and raise money for various HSA/School needs.

• Help count orders and organize merchandise and prizes when they come in, generally in Nov.
• Meets once in September through October.

Fall Family Festival Food Truck/Vendor Fair (September)

NEW for 2017! Family picnic event with food trucks, vendors to shop and a kids zone. Community event.

• Find and recuit vendors, food trucks, and kid zone events.
• Help plan/organize vendors, food trucks, and kid zone.
• Set up/Clean up day of the event.
• Committee meets starting in August.
• Recruit volunteers for HSA sponsored kids tables

Halloween Party/Trunk or Treat (October)

Our annual Halloween Party is a free event for all Tanglewood families. There is a DJ/Dancing, crafts, games, snacks and prizes as well as Trick or Treating outside from the trunks of decorated cars.

• Help plan and run the party, games, snacks and prizes.
• Help plan and organize Trunk or Treat – get families to sign up! Promote!
• Meets once a week in October until the event.
• Set up/Clean up day of event.

SGF Holiday Parade Float (November)

Build the float that is a representation of Tanglewood Elementary School for the annual SGF Holiday Parade that takes place in November. Community event.

• Help brainstorm theme design, gather materials, and build the float to represent Tanglewood Elementary in the SGF Holiday Parade.
• Meets once a week beginning in October into November.

Taste of Tanglewood (November)

Our version of Taste of the North Country. Volunteers cook recipes from our Tanglewood Family Cookbook. Guests come to the event to sample the food, and bid on Raffle Items, while kids play in the kids zone. This event is open to the community.

• Recipes are collected every year for our Tanglewood Family Cookbook and samples from the cookbook are served at the event.
• Help organize the silent auction, basket raffles & a kids zone.
• Fundraise within the community for items to be raffled off.
• Help put together baskets and set up the day of the event.
• Set up/Clean up day of the event.
• Meets once a week in October into November until the event.

Breakfast with Santa (December)

Grades K-3 have Breakfast with Santa and have their photo taken with the big guy before school starts that day.

• Plan, organize, and chaperone the breakfast for K-3 Tanglewood Students.
• Set up/Clean up day of the event.
• Meets in November into December until the event.

Movie Night (February)

A fun family movie night for Tanglewood families. Popcorn and snacks are available for purchase.

• Plan, organize movie event.
• Run the event day of.
• Set up/Clean up day of the event.
• Committee meets in January.

Ice Cream Social (March)

A Tanglewood family event where guests can bid on Basket Raffle items that the children and teachers put together. Each class has a theme basket and items are donated for the baskets based on the theme. And of course there is ice cream!

• Help plan the themes of each basket and organize the baskets.
• Scoop and Serve Ice Cream at the event.
• Sell tickets at the event.
• Set up/Clean up day of the event.
• Committee meets in February.

 Grandparents Dessert (April)

An evening for the children and their grandparents to come and sample desserts and activity planned.

• Help plan the evening event
• Decorate the cafeteria – Set up/Clean up
• Organize/Run event – help plan and decide on event.
• Committee meets starting in March

Twister (May)

4th & 5th Grade dance.

• Help plan the activities, food and theme of the dance.
• Set up/Clean up day of the event.
• Committee meets end of March – May.

Staff Appreciation Day (May)

This is a luncheon to celebrate our amazing Tanglewood Staff!

• Help pick a theme for the luncheon
• Organize menu and decor.
• Help serve at the luncheon
• Set up/Clean up day of the event.
• Committee meets in April into May.

Polidore 5/K (June)

This is a 5k Run/Walk that takes place the same day of the Family Carnival to honor a beloved teacher Mr. Polidore who passed in 2015.

• Help organize run/walk and be there during the event.
• Committee meets starting in March until the event.

Fifth Grade Graduation/Recognition (June)

5th grade moving up ceremony, takes place the last day of Tanglewood Elementary School.

• Help plan and organize gifts and ceremony for the last day of school at Tanglewood.
• Set up/Clean up day of the event.
• Committee begins meeting in April into June until the event.

AND AS ALWAYS, WE ARE OPEN TO NEW SUGGESTIONS TO IMPROVE EVENTS WE ALREADY HAVE, OR NEW EVENTS TO ADD TO THE LIST!!!  ALL IDEAS ARE WELCOME!
